Last week I was teaching two workshops related to motivation for two different companies. Coincidence? In my opinion, it is no coincidence, is the result of the times we are living and specifically, the company.
The motivation is entirely related to teamwork, when we talk about work environments. And in fact, in all group coaching workshops I do for company employees, there is always a common request made: we are a team.
The fact of not feeling as a team means that departments work collaboratively, that information is not shared and does not flow through the channels should, people are closed in departmental territory like their peers in other departments did not belong to the company. The trust does not exist, disappeared. And every group has its particular objectives, sometimes in confrontation with the objectives of other groups in the company, reaching a totally absurd situation, and of course, demotivating. Because when you're on the defensive, distrusting my own partner, is impossible motivation and performance. And all this comes at a very high level cost competitiveness of the company.
Why company management do not address this aspect in depth? A session 3 hours of group coaching is the solution to a problem so deep? Not, of course not. Help raise awareness of the group and to plant a seed, but you can not solve a problem of months or even years at a meeting of 3 hours. It should continue to work, with total commitment, helping the existing tools on the market, as coaching teams, the education and training of managers in leadership and teamwork, and even the formation of all employees in improving their attitude. But a plan should be established long-term average. What we are finding is usually short-term solutions and fast by the Company Address, something like a miracle that never occurs naturally.
