When there is real leadership, both leader, as the person that follows, act from freedom. The moment this happens stops the relationship, the leader ceases to be simply become a superior who gives orders.
The misperception that leadership means exercising authority, leads us to meet with leaders who only have the moral strength to lead people who depend on them hierarchically. But, if we change the perception of the word and instead relacionarsela with “exercise authority” will relate it to “positive influence”, would perhaps not as far-fetched as the idea of being able to lead even his own boss. And not only him, but all the people around them, be they colleagues, customers or family.
We have all found that, without the support of those who exercise authority over us in one way or another, As with our heads, unlikely we will be able to introduce certain ways to work or perform certain actions. You Too, if we do not lead to those on which we have no direct authority (neither they about us), as is the case with our coworkers, our partners or our customers, little can be achieved.
How can we, then, influence the people around us? The answer is simple, but do be a complex task. Get lead others if we strengthen our Social Intelligence. That interpersonal intelligence that allows us to relate effectively with others, building trust, cooperation and achieving common goals.
Five key factors to achieve the following:
1) Learning to manage our emotions. We must not lose control over our temperament, especially when we are angry because something does not go according to our forecasts. Not bad to have an emotion, even if it is anger or hatred. We all experience those emotions ever. Managing emotions well does not mean you repress. The important thing is to bring awareness which are transient and do not stick to them or the possible benefit we get.
Aristotle said that anyone can get angry, That is very simple. But to be angry with the right person, the exact degree, timely, with the right purpose and in the right way, that, certainly, not so easy.
2) Acting on our values. They are what make us unconsciously the decisions we make in every moment. Acting from the consistency we earn our respect on one hand and respect for others because transmit authenticity.
The know ourselves in depth, our virtues and our miseries, enables us to understand and empathize the other, since no demand and acceptance.
Increase our power to influence others, empieza por aumentar el poder de influencia sobre nosotros mismos, lead us to become a better person every day.
Parafraseando a Dale Carnegie: “Any fool can criticize, criticize and complain, y casi todos los tontos lo hacen. Pero se necesita carácter y dominio de uno mismo para ser comprensivo y capaz de perdonar”.
The essence of the true power of influence, of true leadership, can be summarized in one sentence: “We can never be better leaders than people”
And from there, unintentionally, we can positively influence others and, thereby, lead people around us to build a better world.
