Many times the question within HR departments is huge when deciding between many formats to develop their staff within the organization.
Development practices People department, as recently come to know the traditional HR, ranging from training more classic, processes through coaching or not preceded by an evaluation feedback 360º even the programs mentoring mentors whose internal (the middle management executives) have received training people development.
The eternal question is, What is the best choice for my template?
The thing to remember is Intended Audience.
For example, if what you want is to improve staff skills based (no team in charge), training is the most economical solution (in most cases can subsidize) but has little impact on the people, however what we want in this case is that people will gain layers that gradually transformed into skills acquired.
Now, if what you need is to improve management skills or middle, the direct path of training is no longer useful, or at least not useful if it is accompanied by some system implementation such as coaching.
The impact of training in senior and middle managers is scarce
The coaching is focused on theoretical aspects but directly in action adapted and customized to the particular case of the person who receives.
If we are talking about a manager or an army that has a team of 20 or more, we have to think more than twice if you want an economical solution as the classic or more effective action centered, because to be honest people do not change habits after 16 hours in a course, or at least the changes are minimal and low impact.
What then of mentoring?
This methodology that is increasingly being implemented in larger organizations looking for highly experienced people with the most junior develop. This format is recommended to generate a broader view of the people in the organization to all departments, increase motivation, and improve certain skills, as does a coach, although the latter is not experienced in the particular company and other human behavior expert and developing skills.
